November 8, 2011

It is Ironman number 11. I really can't believe of how quickly time goes by. I'm in Colorado Springs at the National Training Center at my Level 3 certification. I just did my presentation and I'm very happy. Crossing new barriers at USAT and implementing my philosophy as a coach. I'm very happy and excited for the outcome. I made an impact and I'm very happy!

Now, I'm here listening to the other coach's philosophy and their approach of coaching their ITU athletes. I'm always learning something new. I'm very happy that I'm here and they are very happy with me. It has been a good day.

"That what you manifest.... is set before you."

Video I watched before the presentation:

Ironman Wisconsin

Swim
The day started with a new perspective. After the entire morning everyone was emotional due to 9/11 remembrance. I was going to have fun and joy today's finish. I arrived at to the swim start with a great attitude and ready to hustle threw. The swim start was easy cause I took the wide route to avoid people. It was nice and smooth.

Transition - 1
You are freaking kidding me... running up a helix!!!! It felt like it never ended!!! It was really smooth and it was inside the expo.

Bike
I held back holding my wattage at key... however... it is a very really course and windy. However, it felt really good with a high cadence. In the middle of the bike, my seat dropped and had to get off and fix it. Came off the bike and my legs felt half and half.

Transition - 2
Tried to get out of there as quickly as possible.

Run
I had to race belt numbers on... one with just my race number and the race belt with my nutrition packet.
At mile number 5... I gave one of my race numbers to a volunteer so he can throw away.
I kept a steady pace until out of nowhere, i find a mountain in the middle of the run. Who put this here.... it was here last year!
Kept it nice and steady and at the half way point I was 1:50 min... I knew I was going to break the four hour mark at the marathon.
The heat was getting more intense, when I got to mile 20.... I was getting really nauseas. I had to slow down from 20 - 23. I made very good friends with a guy from Minn. We chatted and I started hitting him over the head cause he didn't have any salt tabs... then we talked about the weather and how dumb he was for coming unprepared. Then I forced him to run with me cause I was sharing all of my nutrition with him. I felt bad for the guy. At mile 25 he was holding me back so I took of and told him that I will wait for him at the finish line.

I crossed the finish line feeling great... however, I was starving. I went to the athlete tent and had one slice of pizza. then went to the vip tent and had three plates of food and 5 little desserts. At 11 pm I had 2 granola bars.... and I was still hungry!

Timing
I pulled up my results and realized that my times weren't showing up... HOLY SHIT! I went to the timing tent and they told me that a volunteer gave my number in. The volunteer told him that I gave my number and I dropped. Really!! They fixed and my results showed up.

Otro dia mas - Asking for higher Power (10 days IM Wisconsin)

Does he listen....

I was reading a scripture today in which says that "God will know what truly is in our hearts".....  I so agree with that. Now ask yourself.... when was the last time you prayed?

I was looking back in many of the races I have done in my life... (OMG... I'm getting old.!)  I remember that especially in our darkest moments and the moments we are in excruciating pain we ask God in prayer for strength, perseverance and power.... so he can take us to the finish line. After we cross the finish line.... we thank God and celebrate our success.... However there is one thing that we forget, when we asked God for all these things... we also told him that we were going to do certain things, such as: feed the homeless, go to Church, call your parents, save the children... something down the lines.... push comes to shove... you never followed through.

However, your next race is upon you and you want to look back and remember... there is going to be a moment in which we are going to ask for higher power, we are going to ask for the same things and promise more stuff... in which you are not going to do! Therefore, God is forgiving.... but you have to do your part! I've learned it.... the hard way.

Therefore, start doing the things your promise... because sooner or later... it will always come back.

Today was a great day for me. Getting ready for my trip to Madison!  Setting up my race plan and strategy. Thank you to Kameel A and Dr. Michael M.  I get there Thursday, September 8.... love it. One of the songs in which I have playing over and over in my head is Fly from Nicki Minaj and Vox Populi from 30 Sec to Mars.

It will be a great race.

12 more days till IM Wisconsin and dating

Last year my doctor didn't allow me to race IM Wisconsin due to my head injury... I can't believe ti has been a year. However it is time to redeem myself.  I'm very excited and going to perform my best IM RACE so far.... how exciting.

My life has changed a lot... now that I'm single.... I think I already said that.... and I'm traveling alone... it will be fun.

Dating as a Triathlete

I have been on a few coffee dates with people and it is horrible!!!!

People don't workout, are stuck up, cocky, self centered and insecure... yeap... I'm going to be single for a very long time. Not that I'm comparing it to my ex... that is another topic.... but I couldn't get any better... i'll explain and throw my heart out there one day.

However, I'm an emotional kind of guy and I'm always leading... sometimes it will be good just to be vulnerable and let go. Allow someone else take charge... yeap...i'm too independant. LOL

Well that's it for now. I'll chat later.

14 days before IM Wisconsin

I have 14 days to my tenth Ironman... what a milestone. I'm very happy. I am lighter and faster than ever. However, we all have an achillies heal.... without a doubt... it is my bike. But I'm aware of it and I am working on it. However, I am very happy.

On another topic... I'm single.... I know!!!  Things didn't turnout that well in my 33 years... but I'm happy... I guess. Well I have to head out to the pool and get ready... I'm fighting obesity one day at a time.
